9 Days Tanzania Great Migration Experience
9 Days Tanzania Great Migration Experience
Day 1: Airport -Hotel
Pick up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel for overnight on Breakfast / Lunch
Day 2: Arusha –Tarangire
After breakfast, you will be picked up from hotel by your Tanzania safari guide and driven to Tarangire National Park arriving in time for lunch. Tarangire National Park is almost 3000 sq km in size and is probably best known for its huge numbers of elephants and baobab trees. The name of the park comes from the Tarangire River which crosses through the park. Tarangire is especially spectacular during the dry season (June – November) as wildlife concentrations rival that of the Serengeti (since enormous populations of elephants and other animals are drawn to the Tarangire River as their only source of water). With its varied habitats and permanent water in the Tarangire River the park is home to over 2000 elephants and 500 bird species. Dinner and overnight in a Maramboi Tented Camp
Day 3: Tarangire- Serengeti
Depart Tarangire for Serengeti National Park after breakfast with picnic lunch box
Enjoy afternoon game drive. The Central Serengeti offers superb game viewing all year round due to its abundance of resident animals. Specifically, the Seronera River Valley in the Central Serengeti is a ‘must see’ on every safari regardless of the specific month of travel. Game viewing in Central Serengeti is at its best during the dry season (June – November) as resident animals are more concentrated in the immediate area due to the lack of water on the plains. Resident herbivores include impala, buffalo, hippo, warthog, topi, hartebeest and giraffe. Resident carnivores include lion and leopard. Dinner and overnight at Kubukubu Tented Lodge
Day 4-5: Serengeti
On these two days, you will have full days to the northern part of Serengeti (where the migration should be in August/October) near the Mara River in the hopes of seeing some of the migratory crossing from Masai Mara. The endless plains of Serengeti are also the setting for the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle – the 1.5 million wildebeest endless migration in search for fresh pastures. Each year they trek over 2,500km and are constantly threatened and followed by some of Africa’s greatest predators. Depending on the time of your visit, your driver guide will be able to share with you where the herd’s current location is at northern Serengeti. Dinner and Overnight at Mara Mara Tented Lodge
Day 6: Serengeti
After breakfast, drive and later to central Serengeti for evening game drive
Dinner and Overnight at Kubukubu tented Lodge
Day 7: Serengeti -Ngorongoro
After breakfast, check out and proceed to Ngorongoro arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon free.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast proceed for a full day game-drive tour looking out for the numerous animals that reside inside the crater. The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena. The area contains over 25,000 large animals including 26 black rhinoceros. There are 7,000 wildebeests, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 eland and 3,000 Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles. The crater also has the densest known population of lions, numbering 62. Higher up, in the rainforests of the crater rim, are leopards, about 30 large elephants, mountain reedbuck and more than 4,000 buffalos, spotted hyenas, jackals, rare wild dogs, cheetahs, and other felines. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
